Who was it designed for?

Level 2 undergraduate students in the History of Nursing.

click for resource view This resource provides a good example of how to integrate visual resources as primary sources into course materials. Two sets of interactive exercises, based around photographs and a short piece of text are designed to teach students about using photographs as historical sources, and to explore the roles and work of nurses. Thus these materials teach students not just about the history of nursing, but also about the use of visual sources in analysis and research. It also shows how visual resources can open up a whole new set of questions and issues within a subject area, particularly where it has traditionally relied on primary and secondary written sources.
