set-ups, or what has come to be known as organised reality.
Subjects are prompted, shot from various angles a
number of times, positioned within the frame and orchestrated through it,
told to 'act naturally'. This is done because documentary filmmakers
introduce narrative and narrative rules.
The earliest actuality films became discreet outwith the reality they
are representing.
