Often
workers - particularly in the hotel and catering industry - are not
being paid the minimum wage and have to work extremely long hours
to make ends meet. There's also a danger of becoming over dependent
on tourism, and what happens when tourists' tastes change and they
move on to new destinations?
But
of course the argument needn't be about jobs versus the environment,
because of course the construction of, and operation of, the funicular
railway hasn't caused any damage has it? Well, according to Cairngorm
Mountain Ltd that is. They claim that "…from construction to management
the environment has the highest priority". Well, just have a look
through these photos - taken at the development stage - and see
if you agree with their claims.
