Melville
Assosciates have already prepared a proposal for their funicular extension.
They would like to join their extension to the funicular already in
existence at the Ptarmigan. The extension would then run along the
ridge of Coire Cas before descending the mountain and meeting the
original at Coire Cas car park - in effect creating a circular railway.
See the map on the previous page for a route map of the extension
and the diagram opposite for a more visual representation.
It
is envisaged that the extension would have a number of stops en-route
to allow the skiers to exit at a range of ski runs. The first stop
would be the Ptarmigan - as exists at present. There would be another
4 stops giving skiers access to a range of ski runs. Because the
funicular would run on a circular track, this would allow the operating
company to run a continuous service, with skiers waiting no more
than 5 minutes for a train.
