Really it's been a wonderful development, don't you think? Economically, the development has paid dividends - there has been direct and indirect job creation as well as the protection of existing jobs. In terms of income generation, the funicular will generate a very significant increase in visitor numbers, will help develop the area as a year round destination and will help re-establish the Cairngorms as a leading tourism centre. Not only this, the funicular has pioneered a visitor management scheme with strong environmental safeguards which offers greater protection for the Cairngorm plateau through the better control of visitors. That's what I would call a win - win situation! No wonder we're so proud of our environmentally sustainable tourist attraction.
