Thumbnail for project: Scottish Material in the V&A CollectionsThe Victoria and Albert Museum collections have a wealth of Scottish material in several curatorial sections. This project focuses on objects in the V&A which are not well represented in the National Museums of Scotland or by other Scran contributors. The selection includes objects designed by Phoebe Anna Traquair, Jessie M King, George Walton, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret and Frances Macdonald. It also includes a ring which possibly belonged to Mary Queen of Scots.

Thumbnail for project: World War I World War I items from the collections of the National Library of Scotland, including extracts from the diaries of General Haig, official war photographs from the Library's Haig collection, the diaries and correspondence of World War I nurse Mairi Chisholm, and the letters, postcards, photos and diary entries of Lance Corporal George Ramage, an ordinary soldier who experienced the war and its innovations (gassing, the increased use of technology) at first hand.

Thumbnail for project: Basic Records - The Whyte Photographic CollectionA complete basic-only database (Scran Basics) of over 30,000 photographic negatives from the studio of David Whyte, an Inverness portrait photographer. Whyte founded his studio in the 1860s and it remained in continuous operation under various owners up to the 1980s, its archives providing a de facto social history of the area.
