Documentary and Social Concern 

Most documentarists would claim to be left-wing and radical, to uphold the notion that the documentary film is the friend of the individual in the fight against the system. A David and Goliath tale of the little man challenging society's wrongs. 

This is interesting considering the class system that existed within the arts. The working classes or downtrodden did not have access to the medium of film, most of the social concern films were shot by those who had, not those who had not. Why?
