In session 11 we get to meet Jane. Jane is a planner for Highland Council. She has got an extremely difficult job, as she has to ensure that any proposed developments are in accordance with the structure and local plans for the area. Furthermore, she has to consider all of the objections she's received about the development. Finally - and most difficult of all - she has to try and reach a compromise, which will keep all of the above parties happy - an impossible task?

Before you start working your way through the sessions it may be useful to outline exactly what we mean when we talk about tourism impacts.

Planners have to try and decide if tourism developments are suitable and appropriate.
