One
of the attractive things about the area, known locally as Badenoch
and Strathspey, are the number of small Highland villages and towns
such as Carrbridge, Grantown-on- Spey and Kingussie.
However,
the main reason visitors flock to the area is for the enormous range
of outdoor activities on offer from walking to climbing, cycling
to birdwatching, golf to fishing- it's all here in abundance.
One
of the key focal points for all this activity is the Cairngorm mountain
range. The Cairngorm mountain range is the largest mountain range
in the British Isles and at around 160 square miles, it is a popular
year round destination. The highest peak within the range is Cairn
Gorm which stands at an impressive 1245m. Hill walkers and mountaineers
are drawn to these high mountain areas, including Ben MacDui, Braeriach,
Beinn a'Bhuird and Lochnagar.
