Hi, my name is Susan and I am the chief executive of Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE). I'd like to begin by saying that I am in favour of the proposed funicular railway extension. HIE were very involved in the development of the original funicular railway and we're proud at how successful this development has been. I feel that the local area has benefited greatly from the funicular, both in terms of job creation and income generation and I see no reason why the proposed extension couldn't bring more of the same.

I thought it would be useful to give you a background to the economic development in the Cairngorms area, to help you understand why the proposed funicular development would be a great boost to the area.
