Hi
there, my name is Bob and I am a representative from the Mountaineering
Council of Scotland (MCOS). As a lover of the great outdoors and someone
who spends most of their leisure time enjoying Scotland's mountains,
it goes without saying that I am vehemently opposed to this funicular
extension. The decision to let the original railway go ahead was folly
and this idea is equally mad. It is a totally flawed plan and has
an inadequate economic justification - despite what the developers
say.
We
fully accept that development is necessary to ensure the future
economic success of the area - but why can't the development be
sustainable? Why can't the development be in the long-term interests
of visitors, residents and local enterprise? Why have they insisted
on short term gain at such great cost to the environment?
