At MCOS we have campaigned tirelessly against the railway as we believe it will lead to a net loss of tourism - people will be put off visiting Scotland because of the way we are seen to treat our finest mountain areas. I certainly don't believe the figures put forward that summer visitors will increase from 50,000 to 165,000 - that's what I call a vivid imagination!

We have always worried about tourists ignoring some of the smaller attractions in the area in favour of the railway.Tourism on Cairn Gorm should not be about large theme park style attractions - the funicular is a tourism monster.

Many of the other smaller attractions in the area could be ignored because of the railway.
