Since
the first lift was installed, nearly 40 years ago, Cairngorm has been
the Mecca for British skiing. It has the most spectacular natural
landscape settings for winter snow sports in Scotland and offers excellent
facilities for beginners to advanced skiers and snowboarders.
Skiing takes place in 2 adjoining corries (corries are large bow-l
shaped features in the mountain side); Coire
Cas and Coire na Ciste. Coire Cas offers fabulous intermediate runs
whilst Coire na Ciste, with the gentle Ptarmigan bowl at the top,
is an excellent beginners area. The further down Coire na Ciste
you go, the more demanding the terrain. Here you find runs like
the West Wall and White Lady - the ultimate challenge for the experts
amongst you. Or, if you're keen on competing, you could try runs
like the M1.
It's an incredible place to ski - there are vertical descents of
around 2000 feet possible.
