Shales
pictured in small burn in North Glen Sannox.
These
are part of the Hghland Border Complex rocks on Arran, the geological
history of which has been the subject of much debate and argument.
These rocks were deposited in an ocean, but exactly where this ocean
was located (relative to other Arran and Scottish rocks), and how
long it existed for, are very difficult to determine from the small
isolated exposures that are available today.
