REFERENCES Searching the WWW can reveal a lot of information about Arran, and about Geology. There are many good search engines, for example 'AlltheWeb' and 'Google'. For those of you that like paper as well as digital resouces, there are a number of good introductory text-books on Earth Sciences that will provide all the background information that you will need. There are also a number of specialist geological field guides for Arran, that provide detailed information on itineraries on the island. The list below also includes the details of a number of walking guides to Arran (often mentioning geological points of interest along particular routes) and some booklets produced by the British Geological Survey and Scottish Natural Heritage that provide excellent pictures and descriptions of Arran and other areas of Scotland.
