Searching the WWW can reveal a lot of information about Arran, and about Geology. There are many good search engines, for example 'AlltheWeb' and 'Google'.

For those of you that like paper as well as digital resouces, there are a number of good introductory text-books on Earth Sciences that will provide all the background information that you will need. All of these text-books have CDROMS with images, video clips etc., and they provide access to a wide range of additional resources on the WWW:-

There are also a number of specialist geological field guides for Arran, that provide detailed information on itineraries on the island.
