Our proposed fictional development is an extension of the current mountain railway on Cairn Gorm - one of the mountains within the Cairngorm range and a popular ski area in Scotland. This mountain railway was constructed primarily to allow skiers to reach the summit in adverse weather conditions - a common occurrence on Cairn Gorm. It was hoped, however, that the railway would also encourage summer visitors, thus extending the tourist season in an area heavily dependent on tourism. However, opposed to this development were the many environmentalists who felt the railway would further invade what should remain as a wilderness area. |
