Also, there has been an increase in the number and range of traditional industries, set up to cater for tourists. There is a plethora of small cottage industries offering traditional Celtic jewellery, pottery and art as well as the traditional kiltmakers and whisky distilleries. So again, it's thanks to the tourists for keeping these traditional arts and crafts alive. I know you are maybe thinking that surely all these benefits cannot be attributed to the funicular and of course you're right, they can't. Many of the benefits I've described have been built up over a number of years and aren't as a result of one tourist attraction. |
