The "Old College" was vacated in 1870 when the University moved to its present site in Gilmorehill. Ironically the move was forced on it by the overcrowding caused by the Industrial Revolution that the University's research helped to fuel. The University has since expanded dramatically with some notable buildings, such as the Reading Room by T. Harold Hughes & D. S. R. Waugh and the Hunterian Art Gallery by William Whitefield. The University is now one of the largest in the United Kingdom." />
