Pete Seeger 1919-2014

29th January, 2014

The singer-songwriter and political activist Pete Seeger died on January 27th 2014 after a long career that saw him winning three Grammy awards, inspiring countless artists including Bruce Springsteen, Joan Baez and Billy Bragg, and writing and recording standards including "Where have all the Flowers gone ?", "Little Boxes" and "Turn, Turn, Turn".  At times persecuted for his left-leaning politics (he was investigated by the House Un-American Activities Committee in the 1950s), he was latterly revered as an elder statesman of the music industry, and continued to support radical and community-minded initiatives including the recent Occupy Wall Street protests.
