Margo MacDonald (1943-2014)

8th April, 2014

The popular and charismatic Independent MSP Margo MacDonald died on Friday 4 April 2014 at her home in Edinburgh. She came to prominence in 1973 after winning election to Westminster for Govan. After a subsequent defeat she turned to broadcasting before being elected to represent the Lothian region in the Scottish Parliament, initially as a member of the SNP, but more recently as an Independent candidate.

Her husband, politician Jim Sillars said "She leaves a void in our lives which will be impossible to fill and her death robs the Scottish nation of one of its greatest talents." There are many images of Margo MacDonald on Scran and you can see them at http://www.scran.ac.uk/s/margo+macdonald
