£4,000,000 NOF Grant for RLS
The New Opportunities Fund (NOF) have awarded a grant of 4 million pounds to Resources for Learning in Scotland. RLS is a consortium of the National Library of Scotland, the National Archives of Scotland, the Scottish Cultural Resources Access Network (Scran), and over 100 Scottish archives and libraries.
RLS was set up to create digital content for the study and celebration of social, cultural and industrial heritage in Scotland, complementary to and integrated with the Scran resource base.
Scran is the managing agent for the consortium, and the tens of thousands of newly digitized multimedia resources that will result from this project will all be downloadable through the Scran User Licence.
The main focus of this new programme of projects is Lifelong Learning, and a website has been created, specifically for this audience, at www.rls.org.uk. Currently this website gives information about the new project, and allows searching and browsing of multimedia from many RLS contributors.
