Created by Dr Sharon J. Arbuthnot, Department of Celtic, University of Aberdeen

What kind of resource is this?

Read the full case study to find out more about this resource and how it was made.

Who was it designed for?

Second-year (native Gaelic speakers) and Honours-level (Gaelic learners) undergraduate students.

Points of interest:

Students often feel far removed from the world of the seventeenth and eighteenth century poets. By introducing sound and images into the course materials, the author has opened up the aural dimensions of the songs and provided a valuable opportunity for students to form an impression of the ‘world’ of poetry, gain a multi-dimensional view of the Gaidhealtachd of the time and assign identities to the men and women who composed in Gaelic.
