NATURAL RESOURCES

Geology provides many important natural resources, apart from the most obvious ones of oil, gold and diamonds!

On Arran there are a wide range of natural geological resources that have been exploited commercially at various times.

It is important to realise that water is an important natural resource, arguably the most important one (although this is not generally recognised in a wet country like Scotland).

Arran has also some mineral deposits, and varions sedimentary rocks have important industrial applications, as this section indicates.
